It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome, exerting its effects and demonstrating strong antibacterial activity against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Hemolytic Pasteurella, Mannheimia haemolytica, and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae are highly sensitive to florfenicol. In vitro, florfenicol exhibits antibacterial activity similar to or stronger than thiamphenicol against many microorganisms. Some bacteria resistant to amphenicol due to acetylation, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, may still be sensitive to florfenicol. |
